20世紀イタリアのモダニズムを代表する建築家、ジオ・ポンティ（1891-1979）は、スプーン1本から高層ビルまでデザインし、部分から全体を統合的に捉える「眼」を備えていました。1960年竣工の＜ピレリ高層ビル＞、そして1957年発表の超軽量の椅子＜スーパーレジェーラ＞は、薄さ、軽やかさを表現した名作です。さらに近年、知られざる名作家具やプロダクトの数々が復刻され、巨匠の多面的な魅力が浮き彫りになってきました。

本展では、ジオ・ポンティ・アーカイヴスの協力のもと、主にポンティがミラノ、デッツァ通りの自宅のためにデザインした家具から、モルテーニにより復刻されたアームチェア、コーヒーテーブル、ブックシェルフと、床に大胆に導入されていたセラミックタイルの再現を通して、ポンティ独自の空間世界をインスタレーションします。また、およそ60年にわたる巨匠の仕事を振り返る大パネルには、1920年代のジノリの磁器製品やオリジナルドローイングの展示のほか、フランチェスカ・モルテーニ監督によるドキュメンタリー映像『Amare Gio Ponti』を紹介し、ジオ・ポンティの視線の先にある私たちの未来を考えます。

Gio Ponti (1891-1971), one of the leading architects of 20th-century Italian modernism, designed everything from a spoon to a skyscraper and had an “eye” for the integrated whole of its parts. The Pirelli Tower, completed in 1960, and the Superleggera, an ultra-light chair introduced in 1957, are masterpieces of thinness and lightness. In recent years, the revival of many of Ponti’s masterworks has highlighted the multifaceted appeal of the maestro’s work.

In collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives, this exhibition allows visitors to experience a unique spatial environment through re-editions of the furniture manufactured by Molteni&C, originally conceived by Ponti mainly for his home on Via Dezza in Milan. This includes armchairs, a coffee table, and a bookshelf, as well as a reproduction of the boldly patterned ceramic tiles that adorned the floor. Additionally, a large wall display offers a retrospective of nearly 60 years of the maestro’s work, starting in the 1920s, featuring porcelain pieces by Ginori and original drawings, alongside the documentary "Amare Gio Ponti" directed by Francesca Molteni. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the future through the lens of Gio Ponti’s vision.
